Activity 6: Public Outreach
The Rural Energy Program implements public outreach and participation measures to promote all activities implemented by the Program.
To emphasize the importance and need for energy efficiency and renewable energy as well as to show the possibilities for SHP business development in Georgia, the Program plans to implement the following main public outreach activities:
- Implement an active campaign of television, radio and print advertising. Television and radio advertising will be dedicated to the short explanation and wider promotion of the benefits and possibilities for implementing EE and RE projects. The printed educational materials target communities identified by the Program and will disseminate more in-depth information and instructions on how to participate in the Program.
- Organize analytical talk shows and educational workshops in close cooperation with our local partners in order to demonstrate the value of energy efficiency and renewable energy measures to the population of selected communities.
- Conduct periodic meetings and seminars among energy sector stakeholders and the media to promote a clear understanding of policy changes affecting the energy sector. The first two meetings will be dedicated to presenting the objectives of the Rural Energy Program. The next two working meetings will be planned in the regions.
Bio-Digesters’ Promotional Pamphlet

To increase the public awareness on alternative energy sources, the Program developed and distributed the pamphlets, describing the benefits and main characteristics of bio-digesters.
The pamphlet was distributed in the communities, chosen by the Program in June, 2007.
Three “Business Class” Talk Shows on “Telmeimdi”

During the first and second quarters of 2007, the REP produced and aired three talk shows dedicated to energy issues on the “Business Class” Program in close cooperation with Teleimedi – the Georgian TV channel with the best coverage and the highest rating in Georgian media market.
The talk shows were dedicated to discuss and promote the energy related issues such as: (i). Energy efficiency and ways to implement energy efficiency measures, (ii). renewable energy (bio, solar and wind) technologies and their utilization; (iii). The role of small and medium size HPPs in the Georgian energy sector.
The talks shows were targeted to:
- The General Public
- Business Entities
- Construction Companies
- Legislative Bodies
